💡 LATAM Trader Tips / Consejos

Frequently Asked Questions / Preguntas Frecuentes

How do I calculate pip value in MXN or BRL?

Pip value in your account currency = (pip size / exchange rate) × lot size × USD/local rate. For EUR/USD on a standard lot (100k units) with a MXN account, 1 pip equals $10 USD, then converted to MXN using the live USD/MXN rate (~17-20 MXN). Our calculator does this automatically using live rates from our data engine.

¿Por qué los traders LATAM prefieren cuentas en USD?

LATAM traders prefer USD accounts to hedge against local currency devaluation. With inflation ranging from ~4% (Mexico, Chile, Peru) to 120%+ (Argentina), keeping profits in USD preserves purchasing power. Even a profitable year in ARS or COP can result in a real loss when measured in purchasing power terms — holding USD neutralizes this risk.

Quanto vale um pip no USD/BRL?

For USD/BRL, 1 pip = 0.0001. On a standard lot (100,000 units), 1 pip equals approximately 10 BRL (the quote currency). On a mini lot (10k), 1 pip = 1 BRL. On micro lot (1k), 1 pip = 0.10 BRL. The BRL value is fixed per lot size regardless of the exchange rate because BRL is the quote currency.

How does inflation affect my forex profits in LATAM?

Real return = ((1 + nominal return) / (1 + inflation)) - 1. In Argentina with 120% inflation, a 50% nominal gain means a real LOSS of ~32%. In Mexico with 5% inflation, a 20% gain yields ~14% real return. Always calculate inflation-adjusted returns when trading with LATAM currency accounts — our calculator shows both figures automatically.

Is forex trading legal in Mexico, Brazil, Colombia and other LATAM countries?

Yes, forex is legal across LATAM. Mexico (CNBV), Brazil (CVM), Colombia (SFC), Chile (CMF), Peru (SBS), and Argentina (CNV) all permit forex trading through regulated international brokers. Most LATAM traders use offshore brokers like Exness, XM, AvaTrade, or IC Markets. Tax treatment varies significantly by country — always consult a local tax advisor.
